Thales machines destroyed in Amsterdam

Last night the OV chip card readers and gates at the Isolatorweg metro station in Amsterdam were destroyed with a hammer and the message Thales Kills Ⓐ was painted on the wall.
These gates are managed and operated by the arms company Thales. The company works directly with the Israeli weapons company Elbit through a joint venture (U-TacS) to manufacture drones. It has also been accused of complicity in war crimes in Yemen by selling weapons to Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The radar and sensor equipment it produces is also an important part of the border infrastructure of Fortress Europe that is used to surveil and imprison migrants.
The same company that supplies technology used on battlefields and borders across the globe provides critical infrastructure to the NS that is used to monitor and surveil people using public transportation in the Netherlands. This integration of civilian and military infrastructure underlines the fact that the military industrial complex is thoroughly enmeshed in all of our lives.

Gisteravond zijn de OV-chipkaartlezers en poortjes op metrostation Isolatorweg in Amsterdam met een hamer vernield en is de boodschap Thales Kills Ⓐ op de muur geschilderd. Deze poortjes worden beheerd en bediend door het wapenbedrijf Thales. Het bedrijf werkt rechtstreeks samen met het Israëlische wapenbedrijf Elbit via een joint venture (U-TacS) voor de productie van drones. Het is ook beschuldigd van medeplichtigheid aan oorlogsmisdaden in Jemen door wapens te verkopen aan Saoedi-Arabië en de VAE. De radar- en sensorapparatuur die het bedrijf produceert, is ook een belangrijk onderdeel van de grensinfrastructuur van Fortress Europe, die wordt gebruikt om migranten te bewaken en op te sluiten.
Hetzelfde bedrijf dat technologie levert die wordt gebruikt op slagvelden en aan grenzen over de hele wereld, levert kritieke infrastructuur aan de NS om mensen die gebruik maken van het openbaar vervoer in Nederland te bewaken. Deze integratie van civiele en militaire infrastructuur onderstreept het feit dat het militair-industrieel complex diep verweven is in al onze levens.
