 Call of the 300 migrant’ workers on hunger strike from January 25th 2011
We are migrant men and women, refugees, from all over Greece. We came here to escape poverty, unemployment, wars and dictatorships. The multinational companies and their political servants left us no choice but to repeatedly risk our lives to journey towards Europe’s door. The West that is exploiting our countries while benefiting from much better living conditions is our only chance to live decent lives, to live as human beings. Whether by regular or irregular entry, we came to Greece and are working to support ourselves and our families. We live without dignity, in the dark shadow of illegalness. Employers and State agencies benefit from the harsh exploitation of our labour. We live by the sweat of our brow and with the dream that one day we will have the same rights as our Greek fellow workers.

In this period economic crisis and neoliberal attack to labour and social rights in greece, we face also a generalized attack to migrants’ rights, a broad campaign of PASOK government and the mass media to use migrants as scapegoats of social insecurity, unemployment and “criminality”. Frontex Regional Office in Piraeus, Rabits operation in Evros and Poseidon in Aegean Sea, the “screening procedures”, mass deportations to Turkey and the wall against migration in the land borders with Turkey describe the racist policies of repression and criminalization of migration, the establishment of a new european Apartheid.
In this context, 300 migrants decided start a big hunger strike in both Athens and Thessaloniki, on January 25th. The claim of the hunger strike is a new regularization procedure, the “Legalization of all migrants”. It is the bigger hunger strike happened in greece and probably in europe and is taking place in a period of rising racism. Under these circumstances we need all the possible solidarity.

 De Pinksterlanddagen is het jaarlijks anarchistisch festival dat traditiegetrouw in het Friese dorp Appelscha plaatsvindt. De voorbereidingen voor de editie 2011 zijn van start gegaan en de contouren van de PL 2011 zijn alweer zichtbaar.
Dit jaar zullen de Pinksterlanddagen van vrijdag 10 juni tot maandag 13 juni plaatsvinden, natuurlijk weer op het kampeerterrein 'tot Vrijheidsbezinning' in Appelscha.

GENT - De krakers uit de Spitaalpoortstraat uitten dinsdagochtend met een kleine betoging hun ongenoegen over de stad Gent. De krakers moesten in de voormiddag voor de rechter verschijnen na een dagvaarding De stad wil de krakers zo snel mogelijk uit de huisjes. De zitting werd echter uitgesteld omdat niet elke kraker al een advocaat had.

 In de nacht van 12 op 13 januari 2011 werden de drie anarchisten Dan, Olivier en Camille opgepakt in het Parijse Belleville op beschuldiging van slogans te hebben geschilderd op muren, waaronder « Algerije – Tunesië : Opstand », « Lang leve de anarchie »,… Ze werden meegenomen naar het commissariaat van het 20ste arrondissement, waarna de politie van de anticriminaliteitsbrigade (BAC) de zaak overnamen en de drie kameraden lieten overbrengen naar hun kantoren in de Quai des Orfèvres 36. Vervolgens werden ze voorgeleid voor een onderzoeksrechter en voor de rechter van voorlopige hechtenis, waarop ze vrijdag werden overgebracht naar de gevangenis. De week daarop verschenen ze opnieuw voor een rechter, die besliste om Camille uit de gevangenis te laten en onder strikte juridische controle te plaatsen, terwijl de twee andere kameraden opgesloten blijven.  Na de manifestatie tegen de bezuinigingen in het onderwijs die op 21 januari in Den Haag heeft plaatsgevonden is er in de Haagse binnenstad en in de buurt van het station veel gebeurd. Tot op dit moment worden er mensen vastgehouden voor de gebeurtenissen die dag. Maar uit de foto’s en de verhalen die op internet verschijnen blijkt ook dat de politie en de ME zich die dag niet altijd even netjes hebben gedragen.

Today 300 immigrants went on hunger strike in Greece asking the full legalization of all illegal immigrants in Greece. Approximately 250 of them are in Athens and 50 in Thessaloniki. In Athens, they are staying in an empty building of the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens.
