Die Rote Flora ist seit 1989 besetzt und sie wird es auch bleiben! Das Projekt versteht sich als ein Ort, der offen für alle ist, die Interesse an autonomer und linksradikaler Politik haben. Viele Menschen beziehen sich politisch und kulturell auf die Rote Flora. Sie stellt mit ihrer Beteiligung und Initiierung diverser Proteste wie z.b. der Unterstützung der „Lampedusa in Hamburg“-Gruppe, den Auseinandersetzungen um ein „Recht auf Stadt“ oder der Thematisierung und des Widerstands gegen Gefahrengebiete einen Unruheherd dar.
