Filmed in Diyarbakir / Bakur in May and June 2016, shortly after the - largely unreported - siege of Sur. The siege, which lasted from December 2015 up until March 2016 was the Turkish state’s response to Kurdish communities declaring autonomy in various districts in predominantly Kurdish cities. Around 200 Sur residents and Kurdish resistance fighters have been killed in an all out war that was initiated by the Turkish state, raiding the neighborhood with special police and military forces, tanks and heavy artillery attacks. | ||
