Five anarchists in Barcelona arrested for being facebook admins

On May 15, Yolanda, Silvia, Juan, Xabier and José were arrested in their homes in the province of Barcelona, by order of the Spanish National Court, in a police operation that resulted as well in the smashing and seizure of material from Catalan anarchists premises.

Accused of committing crimes such as terrorist group membership, praising terrorism, recruitment and indoctrination and storage of explosives, they are currently jailed in Soto del Real prison (Madrid), far away from their families and friends, under third grade imprisonment.

The details of the charges are: the alleged involvement of these five anarchists on Facebook pages (“Bandera Negra” and “Front Solidari de Barcelona” among others) that the state and regional police forces consider to be “terrorist gangs”-despite not having proved any activity outside social networks-, their involvement in demonstrations in which there have been incidents and publishing opinions “that have aimed to spread subversive ideas and to incite and / or commit crimes against State and capitalist interests “ (Court order of 17/05/2013).

Moreover, the prosecution believes that the material seized in their homes reinforces these accusations: flags and shirts with anarchist theme, libertarian philosophy books, gasoline from the garage, screws of various kinds, Valencian firecrackers and rockets whose sell is legal.

Following these events, from this platform demanding the release of the five anarchists arrested in Barcelona, and with the aim of spreading and reporting about the unfair situation in which they are found, we declare:

1. That taking into account the “evidences” presented, such charges are ridiculously disproportionate and extremely unfair and prove once again the lack of legitimacy of the current political system, the imperious will of the repressing ruling class and the deeply fascist DNA of the Spanish state and the latent lack of political independence of our judicial system.

2. That despite being accused of such crimes they are not charged under the usual anti-terrorism law nor processed with the usual procedure in such cases, which demonstrates the judicial circus that our friends are involved in and the lack of serious evidence that would lead anyone with common sense to think that they are terrorists.

3. That their arrest and jailing reflect a clear repressive desire and a political persecution to those who reject the current political regime, something totally unacceptable and unjustified.

For all these reasons we DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF THE FIVE ANARCHISTS OF BARCELONA and we call to solidarity to those who, like them, reject the unfair economic, political and social system. That is why we ask for your help and support to spread the word about the situation of Yolanda, Juan Silvia, José and Xavier, until there is no one who hasn’t heard about the unfounded political, media and police farce they have been victims of.

We want them back, our comrades, friends, parents. We want them home free, with us.
