Human Chain Against Coal Mining in the Garzweiler II Open Brown Coal Pit

With our human chain, we want to give greater momentum to the popular citizens’ movement in their protest against open-pit coal mining and provide support for the local resistance groups. Join the human chain on 25 April 2015 and attend the subsequent rally and concert to show the coal excavators and the climate killers that it’s time to stop.
Together we can stand up to the coal lobby!
Afterwards there will be a manifestation + concert at 5 p.m.

How to get there
The Region does not have good access to public transport. Traveling by car or organising a bus from you home town will be most convenient. But there will also be shuttle services at the train stations “Hochneukirch” (via Köln) and “Erkelenz” (via Düsseldorf or Aachen). It is very useful to bring your own bike so you can get quickly from one point to another.
If you need to stay overnight you should look for accommodations in Köln, Düsseldorf, Mönchengladbach or Aachen, for example in a hostel. There will also be a protest camp (age 15-26). If you’re coming from afar we advise to organize a Bus so you can drive home over night, sleep in the bus and arrive home for breakfast.
