[English below]

CALL-OUT FOR A CLIMATE JUSTICE BLOC AT THE 29/11 AMSTERDAM CLIMATE MARCH

This is a call out to all activists, anarchists, anti-capitalists, feminists, squatters, artists, students, antifascists, environmentalists, vegans, migrants, pacifists… and everyone else concerned about our climate, environment, politics, borders, rights, housing, education, health… to join the Climate Justice Bloc at the Klimaatparade on 29 November in Amsterdam.

The Klimaatparade, organised by a broad coalition of Dutch organisations, is part of the biggest climate protest in human history. One day before the start of the historic COP21 United Nations climate summit in Paris, climate marches will simultaneously take place in dozens of cities across the globe. Officially, the summit aims to produce a new global agreement on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

However, we know the climate crisis is not an isolated crisis. It is the result of a failing system that values profit over people and nature, a system that fights war over oil and other resources, that divides us with racism, sexism, homophobia and the militarisation of borders, a system that forever needs to grow, feeding off land grabs, extractivism, pollution, exploitation in the factories, gentrification, privatisation, consumerism and intensifying surveillance… This is the political and economic climate that has fueled the melting of glaciers, the rising seas and increased floods and droughts. This is the climate in which we live, and it is unacceptable because it is unjust and unsustainable.

We know that corporate sponsored summits will never address the root causes of this social and ecological crisis. They are merely able to offer small adjustments that sustain capitalism and divert attention away from the destructive consequences of our current economic system on people and lands around the world. As it stands, the Paris COP21 will again become the stage to play out the battle between life and business as usual. We cannot let this happen without a challenge.

We therefore call on you to unite our struggles in the Climate Justice Bloc. We call on you to raise your voice with ours, for climate justice, for system change and for escalating action, as a small but important step on the long road to build collective pressure on this system that does not work.

At 12 o'clock we will gather at the Museumplein, between the banners 'System Change Not Climate Change' (front of the bloc) & 'End Co2lonialism' (rear of the bloc).
