Ahaus and Gorleben nuclear transport news
Diet Simon - 15.10.2004 17:48

Deutsche Quelle bei  http://www.ahaus-online.de/index_ie.asp?page=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eahaus%2Donline%2Ede%2Fsites%2Fnews%2Fnews%2Ddetail%2Easp%3Fid%3D23929774

There’s more news about nuclear waste transportation in Germany and France. Protests are called for Sunday at Ahaus and Rossendorf over the planned trucking of waste 650 km to Ahaus. And sources in France have revealed a time table for the next trainload of processed German nuclear waste for Gorleben.

Ahaus activists point out that only a very narrow time frame remains this year for the transports from Rossendorf near Dresden. But the state of Saxony was pressing for three truckloads, each of six Castor caskets, from 22 November, whereas the interior minister of North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) categorically rejects all road transports this year. He named February as the earliest possibility.
For more on this see “Dresden-Ahaus nuclear trucking approved” at  http://de.indymedia.org/2004/10/96238.shtml.
Purely formally Saxony has a legal claim to the transports, but can’t carry them out without joint planning with NRW.
The NRW state government has recognised meanwhile that the present “disposal concept for the German research reactors” generates immense costs. On a visit to Ahaus, NRW environment minister Bärbel Höhn announced 72 more Castors from research reactors would be brought to the lightly built storage hall.
She said furthermore that the standstill in national atomic waste disposal policy indicates extremely long interim storage periods.
Against this background anti-nuclear groups are demanding an end to deliveries to the Ahaus dump.
This delivery stop would make clear the disposal emergency, says Felix Ruwe, spokesman of the BI-Ahaus. He said a pretence at a disposal concept was currently being made by carting atomic waste around Europe.
“The BI-Ahaus calls all opponents of atomic power to a demonstration against the present nuclear policy. Meeting point is the Brennelemente Zwischenlager in Ahaus on Sunday, 17 October 2004, 2 p.m. More information at www.bi-ahaus.de.”
The BI Ahaus reports a shift of emphasis in its activities. Whereas they were mainly focused on preventing the Dresden-Ahaus Castors, a new main emphasis has developed in recent months. “Our aim is the closure of the fuel rods dump in Ahaus and all other atomic installations.”
“The first CASTOR transport to Ahaus after more than six years is a key transport! It is a door-opener for following Castor transports!”

Gorleben-Castor schedule in France.
Reporter: Atomnix

Information to hand indicates that the departure of the Gorleben transport from Valognes in France is expected on 6 November 8.20 p.m. If the CASTOR train is not delayed in France, it is due at the border station of Lauterbourg-Wörth on Sunday 7 November at 2.32 p.m.

That means the train could reach Lüneburg very early Monday morning, 8 November, if it has a free run until then!!!

Usually well informed sources in France have released the following schedule between Valognes and Lauterbourg:
