11/1: Fahrenheit 9/11 TV world premiere

Just before the US elections, the anti-Bush movie 'Fahrenheit 9/11' (F 911) will be 'for free' on television, for the very first time, all over Europe. Meanwhile, this controversial movie by director Michael Moore can still not be aired on American tv.

FAHRENHEIT 9/11 TV WORLD PREMIERE
Winner of the Palm D'Or in Cannes, Fahrenheit 9/11 (F9/11), will be shown on German Television by the ProSieben (Pro7) and Sat.1 networks. The channels broadcast unencrypted by satellite all over Europe, parts of the Middle East and Northern Africa. On November the 1st the film will air on Pro7, at Prime Time, 8:15pm CET. If their website is understood it is the original English version with German subtitles. The popular German 'family' channel Sat.1 will broadcast the film on US Election Night, November 2nd at 11:20pm CET, as the introduction to its 'US Wahlnacht'. Unfortunately, the film will probably have advert breaks on these commercial networks.
It is remarkable that this successful American film, which was a blockbuster in Europe, is to be shown on TV so shortly after its Cinema release. Michael Moore gives up all chances of winning an Oscar because documentaries can only get a nomination if they don't air on TV until nine months after their theatre release.
F9/11 FOR FREE ON TV ALL OVER EUROPE, THE MIDDLE-EAST AND NORTHERN-AFRICA
Reception of channels like Pro7 and Sat1 is easy and cheap all over Europe direct from the Astra 1 satellite where a subscription is not necessary. A simple analogue or digital satellite reciever and small dish are all that is needed. Further from Central Europe a larger dish is required. The channels are also carried on many Cable networks.
Second-hand analogue (PAL) satellite receivers with dish antenna (including old 'analogue' LNB heads) are to be found for cheap these days on flea markets and the like. Sometimes old, still functioning dishes can even be found in the tip! Digital (DVB-S) satellite boxes also get cheaper by the day. Hundreds more international 'Free-To-Air' radio and tv channels can be received digitally instead of analogue. Simple new DVB-S reception sets are on offer already from 70 euros.
GERMAN MEDIA AND A LINK WITH AMERICAN AND ISRAELI POLITICS
Once owned by the Conservative German media mogul Leo Kirch German TV networks Pro7 and Sat1 are now in the hands of Haim Saban the Egyptian-Israeli-American media billionaire. Saban a personal friend of ex-president Bill Clinton, is a well known fanatical supporter of the Democrats, and one of their largest financial donors. Saban is also a personal friend of Shimon Peres and supporter of his Israeli Workers Party.
Remarkably Haim Saban's company started a joint venture with 'Fox Broadcasting' in 1995. Fox owned by infamous media mogul and fanatical Bush and Republican supporter Rupert Murdoch. Saban was co-founder and co-owner of the 'Fox Family Channel' and 'Fox Kids Network' until they were sold to Disney for a fortune in 2001.
F9/11 ON TV IN AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND, SPAIN AND SOUTH-AFRICA
The Austrian and Swiss state television ORF1 and SF2 will also show F 9/11 on November the 1st. Without the commercial breaks. ORF1 is officiallly only available in Austria. SF2 is only available in Switserland and for Swiss citizens abroad. The Swiss can choose between 2 sound tracks: dubbed in german or the original english spoken version. Clever satellite-geeks can possibly use illegal cracked codes to watch ORF1 and SF2 all over Europe. The encrypted Pay-TV channel 'Canal+ Espana' already broadcast F9/11 on October 25th for its nearly 2 million subscribers in Spain. The South-African Pay-TV channel 'M-Net' will air F9/11 November 2nd. So far no other TV stations have announced any further showings.
F9/11 ON AMERICAN TV?
Despite offering the US box office blockbuster for free Michael Moore has not succeeded in getting F9/11 on American networks before the elections. Recently the planned broadcast of F9/11 as part of an election night special on Pay TV channel 'IN DEMAND' was canceled after pressure from the Republicans. 'IN DEMAND' is owned by the multinational corporations Time Warner and Cox and Comcast. The film has been broadcast “accidentally” however. The Public Access channel of Binghampton, New York played the film causing complaints from viewers to the cable company, Times Warner Cable, who don't have any editorial authority over Public Access TV.

Michael Moore has announced that F9/11 is free to borrow in many video stores across the US.
