Invites you to: 40 Years After The Massacres

INDONESIA: 40 YEARS AFTER THE MASSACRES

The 1965 Commemoration Committee – Netherlands invites you to a forum on the events that took place in Indonesia from the last quarter of 1965 onwards that brought into power the Suharto military dictatorship which victimized
millions of people. Despite the so-called restoration of democracy after the fall of Suharto in May 1998, the victims and their families continue to be denied justice. The perpetrators of the massacres have not been punished. The civil
rights of many of the surviving victims and their families remain curtailed and have yet to be fully restored. It is the aim of the 1965 Commemoration Committee to generate international solidarity for the Indonesian people in their quest for justice and restitution.

Speakers:
- YUSUF ISAK
Publisher of Pramoedya’s famous works. A political prisoner for 10 years.
Conferred the PEN award and Stichting Wertheim award.
- JOSE MARIA SISON
Chairperson of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS).
Stayed in Indonesia in the early ’60s for studies and met Sukarno and leaders of the PKI.
- ROBERT CRIBB
A professor of Australia National University who has done some important research on Indonesia.
- AGUNG PUTRI
A woman activist based in Jakarta. She is fighting for justice and rehabilitation of the women victims and their families.
