Punk Surf Garage R'n'R Docu Avond, Eurodusnie
manuela - 06.03.2006 18:46

benefit voor Ladyfest Rotterdam

Go back to the 60's with a punk influence: that is what is promised at this edition of Zero Hero, a night for local and touring artists which is having its very last edition at the Boerhaavelaan, before moving onto other venues.

This time the headliners are the local sensation Cheap Thrills (rock 'n'
roll), a band that is quickly conquering all the podia's and is about to
release a video and their first album.

The evening starts off at 20:00 with a documentary called "Why We Fight". Is American foreign policy dominated by the idea of military supremacy?
Has the military become too important in American life? Jarecki's
shrewd and intelligent polemic would seem to give an affirmative answer
to each of these questions.

Immediately after that the bands will play, starting on time
with indie pop band Dusty Blinds, also influenced by garage bands. After
that it's the turn of The Tommies, a sincere garagy punkpop band recently
back in action. To build the bridge between the old and the new, the surfy
punk band Mexican Holiday will rock the moshpit too. And if all of this
isn't enough to put your dancing shoes on, 2 DJs (G and Ronnie FreakOut)
will play the best 7" and LPs of classic to new garage bands. Lo-fi rules!

The entrance is donation: however this time the night is a benefit for
Ladyfest Rotterdam, and it's hoped that much will be raised for this event.
Ladyfest is a d.i.y., no-profit, independent festival to showcase inspiring
female talent and to talk about women's issues. It's a festival open to the
community and it's expected to happen in September or October. Help to
support your local scene!
