Gebroken ramen

Tijdens de Kristallnacht op 9 november 1938 werden in Duitsland 7.500 joodse winkels, synagogen en huizen door de nazi's geplunderd en in brand gestoken. De Kristallnacht dankt zijn naam aan de bergen glasscherven van de ingeslagen ruiten van Joodse winkels, die de dag erna op straat lagen. Later is 9 november uitgeroepen tot internationale dag tegen antisemitisme.

Dit jaar organiseert De Fabel van de illegaal ook weer een Kristallnacht-herdenking in Leiden. “Links en het antisemitisme” is dit keer het thema. Na een inleiding over de Kristallnacht en het hedendaagse antisemitisme wordt de tv-documentaire "De terrorist Hans-Joachim Klein" vertoond.

Klein was lid van de Duitse radicaal-linkse verzetsbeweging Revolutionäre Zellen (RZ) en was betrokken bij aanslagen. In die kringen draaiden Duitse en Arabische militanten er destijds hun handen niet voor om om willekeurige Joden te doden. Klein nam later afstand van de RZ en schreef een boek over zijn ervaringen. Daarin uitte hij ook kritiek op het antisemitisme binnen de linkse beweging. Na de documentaire is er ruimte voor discussie.
