Onmenselijke behandelingen Bajesboot naar Raad van Europa
EORG Europa - 15.03.2007 21:08

begin brief:

EORG Europe
P.O. Box 10
6800 AA Arnhem
The Netherlands

Strasbourg, 28 February 2007

Dear Sir/Madam

As you may be aware, the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) has included The Netherlands in its provisional programme of periodic visits for 2007.

In this context, you may wish to consider submitting information on the treatment of persons who are deprived of their liberty and the places where they are held. Relevant information supplied by non-governmental organisations helps to ensure that the CPT has a balanced view of the problems concerning the treatment of such persons in the countries it visits. Furthermore, submissions, if made to the CPT in advance of a visit, can have a significant impact on the delegation's visit programme.

I would like to draw your attention to the numerous public reports on the CPT's visits to The Netherlands, including to the Antilles and to Aruba, the most recent one being the report on the visit to the Kingdom in Europe and the Antilles in 2002. These reports contain the Committee's findings and recommendations. They are accessible together with the responses of the Netherlands authorities, on the CPT's website ( http://www.cpt.coe.int) or, if you wish, you may request paper copies.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mr Marco LEIDEKKER or Ms Caterina BOLOGNESE if you have any questions in relation to this letter.

Yours faithfully

Hugh CHETWYND
Head of Division
Secretariat of the CPT

einde brief
