Info over verzet tegen sojateelt en landroof in Argentinië
globalinfo.nl - 02.10.2009 15:34

Soy expansion, mining and land grabbing in Argentina

Denouncing violations to the right to food, water and criminalization of peasant organizations MOCASE / UST (La Via Campesina Argentina)

In Argentina indigenous, campesino communities and landless rural workers are victims of forced displacements, repression and human rights violations -including the violation to the right to food and to water- as well as the criminalization of their resistance to soy expansion, mining exploitations and land grabbing. Two women from La Via Campesina are denouncing these abuses at the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and are visiting The Netherlands to gain more solidarity for their struggle.

The Netherlands is the second large importer of soy and has a direct involvement and concern in relation to GM-soy expansion in Latin America, importing soy-products (livestock, biodiesel, soy oil) and financing soy-production related development programs and certification systems in the Southern Cone.

Organizations associated to La Via Campesina have been the motors behind the campesino resistance to soy expansion in w:st="on"Argentina.
