After Venlo rebel clowns know what to do next time

Saturday, June 12th neo-nazi's were marching again in Venlo. Rebel clowns had the plan to 'join' them. They arrived early and then... almost immidiately everything went wrong. "As a clown you're born to fail" is a famous line about clowns - but this was really toooooo much!
However: there are a few lessons learned in Venlo.

Last year most of the police checks started around 11.00. This time our blue friends woke up earlier.
Probably with undercover police at the station - connected with colleagues elsewhere in the city. In a part of the city where the demonstration shouldn't come, 3 times groups of bikers passed by a clown couple. On the way to the address where they should change clothes most of the other clowns got an ID-check around 10.30. Three of them were arrested and also 1 photographer. The clowns because they had other clothes in their backpack and the photographer because he had 2 jackets with him. "With these clothes you could cover your face" was the explenation to the clowns. Clearly not true. Clowns should have been the most recognisable figures that day.
Anyway: a long day for arrested clowns followed in the police station. Free around 18.00. A few other clowns could escape. The police helicopter was very closeby for a while, but this was the only game won by the clowns that day: "Ohhh, it was so nice hiding in the bushes for about 1 hour!" (and to get rid of clown stuff). Seperated from their other red noses they didn't have the right number of clothes with them and could only go to the demonstration to have a close look.
Going to see the nazi's as undercover clowns wasn't bad at all. We could hear boring speeches. The voice of the 'Leader' sounded nervous, his words were predictable and they didn't connect with the 'goal' of the demonstration of the NVU (Nederlandse Volks Unie / Dutch Peoples Union). It was all about predictable national socialist bla bla. Very boring, even for the nazi's: they didn't applauded much.
We also heard loads of noise and of course we contributed to have more. One of the very best moments was the moments hundreds of flyers were falling down from a balcony at the nazi demonstration with a text of Anne Frank's diary. About her birthday. 12 June was her birthday!
Reason to celebrate! Happy to see hundreds of people of different colours and backgrounds surrounding the neo-nazi demonstration. Not only people complaining about the costs of this police operation, also for example a group of young moslima's who joined enthusiastically.
An inhabitant of Venlo said: "If there shouldn't be police here, the demonstration should end very soon!!!". For him and loads of other people it was clear the nazi's aren't welcome. Not in Venlo. Nowhere.

Zaterdag, 12 juni marcheerden neo-nazi's opnieuw door Venlo. Rebel clowns hadden het plan om 'eraan mee te doen'. Ze kwamen vroeg aan en toen... liep bijna alles onmiddelijk verkeerd. "Als clown ben je geboren om te falen" is een beroemd gezegde over clowns - maar dit was echt te veeeeel!
Hoe dan ook: er zijn een paar lessen geleerd in Venlo.

Vorig jaar begonnen de meeste politie controles rond 11.00 uur. Deze keer stonden onze blauwe vrienden eerder op.
Waarschijnlijk met stillen op het station - verbonden met collega's ergens anders in de stad. In een deel van de stad waar de demonstratie niet zou komen, passeerde een groep fietsagenten een clownpaar 3 keer. Op weg naar het adres waar ze zich zouden omkleden kregen de meeste andere een ID-check rond 10.30 uur. Drie van hen werden gearresteerd en daarnaast ook een fotograaf. De clowns omdat ze andere kleding bij zich hadden in hun rugzak en de fotograaf omdat hij 2 jasjes bij zich had. "Met deze kleding kan je je gezicht bedekken", was de uitleg naar de clowns. Duidelijk onzin. De clowns zouden de meest herkenbare figuren zijn geweest die dag.
Hoe dan ook: een lange dag in het politieburo volgde voor de gearresteerde clowns. Ze waren weer vrij rond 18.00 uur. Een paar andere clowns konden ontsnappen. De politiehelicopter was 'n tijdje heel dichtbij, maar dit was dan ook het enige spelletje dat door de clowns gewonnen werd deze dag: "Ohhh, het was zo leuk om ons 'n uur lang in de bosjes te verschuilen!" (en die clownspullen kwijt te raken). Gescheiden van hun andere rode neuzen hadden ze niet de juiste hoeveelheid kleding bij zich en konden ze daarom alleen naar de demonstratie gaan om het eens van dichtbij te bekijken.
Het was helemaal niet slecht om naar de nazi's te gaan als undercover clowns. We konden saaie toespraken horen. De stem van de 'Leider' klonk nerveus, zijn woorden waren voorspelbaar en ze hadden geen verband met het 'doel' van de demonstratie van de NVU (Nederlandse Volks Unie). Het beperkte zich tot voorspelbaar nationaal-socialistisch gebla bla. Heel saai, zelfs voor de nazi's: ze applaudiseerden niet veel.
We hoorden ook heel veel herrie en hielpen dat om nog meer te krijgen. Een van de beste momenten was het moment dat honderden flyers vanuit een balkon neerdaalden over de nazi demonstratie met een tekst uit het dagboek van Anne Frank. Het ging over haar verjaardag. 12 juni was haar verjaardag!
Redenen om dat te vieren! Geweldig om te zien dat honderden mensen van verschillende achtergrond de neo-nazi demonstratie omsingelden. Niet alleen mensen die klaagden over de kosten van de politie operatie, maar ook bijvoorbeeld een groep van jonge moslima's die enthousiast meededen.
Een inwoner van Venlo zei: "Als er geen politie hier zou zijn geweest, zou de demonstratie heel snel zijn beëindigd!!!".
Voor hem en heel veel andere mensen was het helder dat de nazi's niet welkom zijn. Niet in Venlo. Nergens.
