Wij als arrestantengroep voelen ons genoodzaakt om mensen die actief en minder actief deelnemen in de strijd tegen het kraakverbod te attenderen op enkele zaken.
Het is vrij gebruikelijk dat na één of enkele heftige gebeurtenissen (bijvoorbeeld de demonstraties in Amsterdam en Nijmegen van 1 en 2 oktober), de politie of een andere opsporings- of inlichtingendienst op zoek gaat naar informatie.
Deze informatie kunnen zij vinden op het internet (denk aan indymedia, kraakforum, facebook, hyves, myspace, blogs, krakenpost) en zeer belangrijk, in dagelijks emailverkeer. Ook iets dat op het eerste gezicht onschuldig lijkt, zoals meewerken met een persitem, kan uiteindelijk de autoriteiten meer informatie geven dan noodzakelijk.
Telefoontaps op mobieltjes en vaste telefoons van actieve en minder actieve mensen kunnen toenemen. Dus weet wat je zegt en wees verstandig in het gebruik van (mobiele) telefoons. Het signaal van mobiele telefoons kan worden gevolgd, dus als je van A naar B gaat kan dat met terugwerkende kracht vrij precies getraceerd worden.
Het is ook weleens gebeurd dat men mensen probeert te benaderen die vaak in cafés, concertzaaltjes en op andere plekken waar ook krakers te vinden zijn, komen. Soms worden mensen benaderd die jong en niet persé actief zijn, soms vraagt men mensen die al jaren actief (geweest) zijn. Het is altijd een beetje ondoorgrondelijk waarom men de een uitkiest en niet de ander. Soms vraagt men expres iemand waarvan bijna zeker is dat die niet meewerkt, maar wel haar of zijn omgeving informeert. Zo kan er een sfeer van paranoia en verdeeldheid worden gecreëerd. In andere gevallen kan iemand die wordt benaderd worden geïntimideerd, bijvoorbeeld door het dreigen met strafvervolging (bij arrestatie na een actie).
Als je het gevoel hebt dat de politie of een inlichtingendienst jou of iemand in je omgeving probeert te gebruiken om informatie los te peuteren, aarzel dan niet om contact op te nemen met de arrestantengroep of Buro Janssen & Jansen. Buro Jansen & Janssen is een onderzoeksburo dat politie, justitie en inlichtingen- diensten kritisch volgt en een steungroep voor mensen die ongewild gevolgd of vervolgd worden.

I won’t do a full translation but here’s a quick summary:
- it’s to be expected that the police or intelligence services will look for information after a violent confrontation (such as the demonstrations on 1 or 2 October);
- they look on publicly available pages on the internet but they could also tap into personal emails or record phone conversations. Be aware that they can trace your location through your phone;
- they may approach people to solicit information

Ik zeg voorzichtigheid is altijd geboden maar om nu opeens iedereen die zich raar gedraagt te bestempelen als een mogelijke stille of om compleet paranoia te worden op elke vorm van communicatie en in elke schroef in je muur een camera te zien is 1000% schadelijker dan de eventuele informatie die er gewonnen kan worden.
Want het is juist deze ANGST waardoor een kleine minderheid de meerderheid kan besturen.
Dat neemt niet weg dat ik de bovenstaande oproep goed vind en erg nuttig.

Komt misschien niet zo vaak voor omdat er weinig van dit soort specialisten zijn, maar men geeft de voorkeur aan mensen met een specifieke geheugen gave: Zonder microfoon kunnen die na een bijeenkomst uit hun hoofd zo 30 namen van deelnemers neerschrijven.
Verder kunnen sommige telefoons ook afgeluisterd worden als je niet belt. Ben geen specialist voor welke modellen dat eventueel geldt, maar de batterij eruit is het zekerst. Ook voor een bijeenkomst voor de zekerheid dat er niet een deelnemer stiekem zit te filmen of de lijn heeft openstaan naar een derde.

Het uitzetten van mobieltjes is niet genoeg. Het is dan nog steeds mogelijk om te achterhalen dat een bepaalde groep mobieltjes (lees personen) op een bepaald punt bij elkaar komt en daar allemaal hun mobieltje uitzet. Dan zullen die mensen wel iets met elkaar te maken hebben en iets te verbergen hebben.
Beter is je mobieltje gewoon thuis te laten en daar aan te laten staan.

het is natuurlijk prima om zo voorzichtig mogelijk om te gaan met gevoelige informatie. Maar ik merk dat vaak de prioriteiten hierin op vreemde manier plaats vinden. Het is voor inlichtingen diensten gemakkelijker om in een ruimte een microfoontje te plaatsen (of van afstand een richtmicrofoon) dan het afluisteren van een telefoon die ergens in de ruimte ligt.
Voor dat laatste moeten ze allemaal rare omwegen maken via oa je provider terwijl ze zelf zonder medewerking van een andere instantie je dus al kunnen afluisteren.
Men kan wel bv in een bekend kraakpand heel geheimzinnig gaan doen door alle telefoons uit te zetten en in een andere ruimte te leggen, maar het is voor de inlichting diensten dus veel makkelijker om gewoon de al bekende locaties op andere wijze af te luisteren...

The Arrestanten Group wants to alert people involved in the struggle against the squatting ban to the following: after one or more intense events like the recent demonstrations in Amsterdam and Nijmegen it is quite common for the police or other intelligence services to hunt for information. They can find this information on the internet in places like Indymedia, kraakforum, facebook, hyves, myspace, blogs, krakenpost and, very importantly, in everyday e-mail contact. Even things that seem innocent at first glance, like cooperating with a press report, can eventually supply the authorities with more information than necessary.
There could be more telephone taps on mobiles and landlines belonging to activists, both more or less involved. So be aware of what you are saying and use telephones sensibly. A mobile phone signal can be traced, so if you travel from A to B your trip can be followed fairly accurately.
In the past people have been approached who regularly visit bars, concert spaces and other places frequently attended by squatters. Sometimes young people who are not particularly involved are targeted, sometimes diehard activists who have been around for years. It's not always clear who will be selected and why. Sometimes people are approached who almost certainly will not cooperate, but will inform their surroundings. This can create an atmosphere of paranoia and divisiveness. Sometimes intimidation is used, for example by threatening with prosecution after an arrest at an action.

Update about the October 1st squatting demonstration and its consequences.
After the events on Friday, October 1st and the following arrests we have already given several updates. Here we've listed them all in one place. Again, we ask people who have been arrested but have not yet contacted us to please get in touch.
Surrounding the October 1st demonstration eleven people were arrested and several were injured. We only know of two who needed to go to hospital for treatment, there may well be more.
According to the police one of the eleven had been wrongly arrested, but the others had been taken rightly. The detainees stand accused of breach of the peace, public violence, causing bodily harm, or agitation (i.e. shouting “kraken gaat door”, “squatting will continue”). During the following weekend most activists have been released. The prosecution decided to present a number of activists to the magistrate (rechter commissaris) on the following Monday, trying to have them locked up until the court session. As far as we know all but one of them have been subsequently released. This prisoner has chosen on principle to retain his anonymity and was immediately placed in immigration detention. He is still being held in the Noord West cell block at Meer en Vaart in Amsterdam and has been seen by his attorney. The police are refusing to accept a package with clean clothes etc. for him because he remains anonymous.
Three of the other activists arrested have let us know that they will have to appear in court next week already, due to an extra fast legal procedure callled snelrecht. The other activists, although released, are also still considered suspects and could still be facing court summons and prosecution.
Of the ten activists arrested four have asked for our lawyer. We have had some contact with other activists but if you have been arrested, are summoned to appear in court etc., do please contact us. If you want to remain with your own lawyer we would also like to know.
It is not unusual for people to be summoned to appear in court already the week after, through the snelrecht extra fast legal procedure. The prosecution sometimes prefers to have court sessions as soon as possible after the activists have been led before the magistrate, hoping to increase the chance that the magistrate will keep the activists locked up until the court session takes place. It is not the first time this has happened and it certainly won't be the last. There is no need to look for any specific conspiracy theories, it is the general state repression affecting everyone.
Finally we call for images and witnesses of the physical abuse of the injured squatter. In order to file charges she and her lawyer are looking for as many witnesses and as much evidence as possible.
