Stickering and flyering action at Altert Heijn.

*Stop the greenwashing of GM IrResponsible Soy!
Invitation for a sticker- and flyeraction at Albert Heijn*

Wednesday 15th June was be the first day of the 6th international
conference of the RTRS. ASEED organised an action at the
Albert Heijn at the Jodenbreestraat, to inform the public about the
misleading strategy of Albert Heijn. We will do this by showing
consumers which products are produced with toxic soy including all meat dairy and eggs not orgainically produced.

ASEED is targeting Ahold's Dutch supermarket subsidiary Albert Heijn
which in 2010 made 688 million euros in profit. It is the largest meat
retailer in the Netherlands. The supermarket points to Ahold's
participation in the Round Table for Responsible Soy (RTRS) as the best
solution to address the negative impacts of soy expansion.

This Round Table is nothing but a false solution. Its criteria do not
stop deforestation, do not significantly bring down the use of
pesticides and do not reject genetically modified soy-production. ASEED
wants Albert Heijn to stop misinforming its consumers and its
greenwashing of poisonous soy-production.

In 2011 the ‘Round Table on Responsible Soy’ (RTRS) will introduce a label for ‘responsible’ soy. This will be mostly genetically engineered (GE) soy, designed to be produced with large (and increasing) amounts of chemicals. At the cost of people and the environment. Large scale production and export of soy for animal fodder in meat and dairy industry can never be responsible. This site explains what is wrong with ‘responsible soy’.

Directly and through NGOs Solidaridad and IUCN, the Dutch government provides financial support for the Round Table. WWF supports the RTRS, but still claims to be opposed to genetically engineered crops. This site reveals what most members and fund raisers of these organisations probably do not know. Ten thousend individuels protested to the Dutch government, hundreds of organisations protested against the RTRS. Monsanto and the RTRS received the Angry Mermaid Award for worst climate lobbying in Copenhagen december 2009.

Now organisations are writing supermarkets: don’t buy the lie of ‘responsible soy’ and don’t sell it to us. Please join the protest and send an email to supermarkets all over Europe:
