Morgen wordt er in verschillende landen de vrijlating van de Spaanse activisten geeist. In Nederland is er van 12.15-13.15 uur een solidariteitsactie bij het Spaanse consulaat aan het Frederiksplein 34 te Amsterdam. Steek onze dappere vrienden een hart onder de riem en laat kom morgen ook!

Binnen 24 uur na de arrestatie van de twaalf Spaanse activisten laten honderden mensen van over de hele wereld hun steun en solidariteit blijken. Vandaag vinden er in 30 steden, van Noord- en Zuid-Amerika tot Europa, Australie en Nieuw-Zeeland aan toe, protesten plaats bij Spaanse ambassades en consulaten.

Een aantal gevangenen zijn in hongerstaking gegaan als protest tegen het magere veganistisch eten dat ze krijgen voorgeschoteld (slechts sla en tomaten). Steun de activisten door te bellen met de bajes en vega eten voor hen te eisen.

calling the police stations in Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña where
they are currently being held and enquiring about the health of the
activists.
The following is a suggested text to read:
“Hello. I am calling because I am concerned about the health of the
activists who were arrested yesterday and who are currently being held
in the police station. I would like to request that they be given a
vegan diet. I wish to express my concern for the health of those
detained, and in particular, Sharon Nunez Gough, who has certain health
problems.”
A possible text to use in Spanish, would be:
"Hola: Llamaba para interesarme por el estado de salud de los activistas
detenidos ayer y que se encuentran en sus dependencias, querría saber si
se les está proporcionando una dieta vegana.
Querría manifestar mi preocupación por el estado de salud de los
detenidos y en especial de el de Sharon Nuñez, quien tiene ciertos
problemas de salud."

Solidaridad con Animal Igualdad!
'Abajo las muras de las prisiones!'. The call for solidarity is audible all over the Frederikssquare in Amsterdam. During the national action day against the transport of primates by KLM-Air France, we squeezed in a solidarity demo for the Spanish 12. Fifteen activist with megaphones, leaflets, placards and a banner take their stand in front of the Spanish consulate to demand the freedom of our Spanish comrades of IgualdadAnimal and Equanimal. Visitors of the consulate and passers by are informed about thestate repression against the Spanish animal rights movement, and the consulate is pointed at their responsibility to demand the release of all freedom fighters in Spain. 'Our passion for freedom is stronger than your prisons!'. Today we made clear, together with activists in more than 30 cities all over the world, that solidarity goes beyond any borders, and the struggle for animal liberation continues.

Van de 12 Spaanse activsten die vorige week woensdag werden gearresteerd, zijn 8 op vrije voeten tot aan de rechtzaak. De activisten bedanken iedereen die zich heeft ingezet voor hun vrijheid.
Igualdad Animal en Equanimal benadrukken dat beide organisaties altijd publiek en transparant hebben gewerkt. Zij zien de grote arrestatie-actie van de Spaanse staat dan ook als een duidelijke aanval op de dierenrechtenbeweging.

Drie activisten worden gevangengehouden tot aan de rechtzaak. Het is van groot belang dat we hun blijven steunen in deze moeilijke tijd. Binnenkort worden hun gevangenisadressen gepubliceerd en we roepen iedereen op om hun een kaart of brief te sturen om te laten weten dat mensen van over de hele wereld achter hen staat.
