Ende Gelände planning meeting 2017 @ Berlin

Aankondiging, gepost door: nn op 07/09/2016 09:01:56

Waar: Berlin, Germany
Wanneer: 30/09/2016 - 13:51 t/m 02/10/2016 - 13:51

In May 2016 there was a second Ende Gelaende end of the road for coal (video / pictures). 4,000 people gathered in Lausitz to block the open pit mine Welzow Sued plus surrounding infrastructure to prevent coal reaching the power station Schwarze Pumpe. In the eyes of both the public and the movement itself, this was a great success. We have spent a lot of time in the last few months evaluating this event (also critically), but now we want to start looking towards next year's action.

We'd like to meet from *30.09- 02.10.16 in Berlin* to discuss where and how Ende Gelaende should be next time. It doesn't matter whether you're
in an ecology group, an NGO, a grass roots initiative or a left-wing group - you're welcome.

You're also welcome to send us any ideas you might already have for Ende Gelände 2017.

At the end of August, we'll send out invitations and a timetable. You can sign on now at: ende-gelaende-anmeldung@riseup.net
. Let us know if you need a place to sleep or childcare.

Save the date! We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Auf geht's, ab geht's, Ende Gelände!

Dear all,

here's a little update package on the coming weekend.

We will provide English translation during all plenary sessions and, to
the extent this is feasible, during small group discussions.

Vegan organic food will be provided at all mealtimes in return for
donations.

// SCHEDULE
Please find attached the preliminary schedule for the weekend. In short,
on Saturday we will focus on discussing our strategy and action plans
for 2017, while Sunday will be dedicated to organizational matters
within EG.
As you can see, there is a flexible slot at the end of Saturday's
schedule. How exactly we're going to fill this slot (as well as Sunday's
schedule) depends on how fast we're able to make progress with
developing a consensus regarding our action plans.

Thus, it may happen that the previously announced open space for a
diverse array of small group discussions, for which we have received a
number of requests and proposals, cannot take place before Sunday
morning (contrary to what we originally communicated to those who
submitted proposals). If this doesn't work for you, please let us know!

// BUDDY SYSTEM:
We would like to make sure proactively that new people are being
integrated well into the group and the working process. We therefore
call on everyone who has previously participated in the process to
volunteer as "buddies" for new people during the weekend (and
particularly on Friday). We would particularly like to have at least one
buddy from each of last campaign's working groups.

This would basically just mean that upon your arrival on Friday you
report to the info table, pin a little symbol to your breast and make
yourself available for questions and conversations during dinner and
after (ideally also during the plenary, whispering).

// GETTING THERE:
We will be using different rooms on campus for each day.

Here's a campus map:

On Friday and Sunday, our plenary meetings will take place inside the
main building (H) in room 2053. On Saturday, we'll meet at the math
department building (MA), room 005. (On the map, you'll find both
buildings on opposite sides of Straße des 17. Juni).

During mealtimes, we'll use the student council's (AStA) rooms (TK
building, entrance on the left-hand side, usually easily identifiable by
political banners decorating the facade). Since Friday's schedule begins
with dinner, this would be your first place to go at 6 pm.

We'll make sure to post signs. If you have to ask porters or other
university staff for directions: you have come to attend an event
discussing the impact of the burning of fossil fuels on the global climate.

// EVENING PLANS:
Both on Friday and Saturday night we'll screen brand new movies on the
climate movement at the AStA (we'll try to provide English subtitles).
On Saturday, we can also use the Café Erdreich on campus (BH building,
room 3) for a little internal party.
For Sunday night, we'll agree spontaneously on places to go in the city
for everyone who's still standing

// REGISTRATION:
Registration (ende-gelaende-anmeldung@riseup.net) and sleeping place
coordinators (ende-gelaende-schlafen@riseup.net) are still happy to
receive a heads-up from you if you're planning to attend! (We don't need
your personal data; we just need to make sure there's enough capacity to
host everybody.)

// DIY:
Long live self-organization! For this, we'll need everyone in attendance
to share in the work - for example for translation activities, food
distribution, cleaning up, potentially also for child care.
At the info table, we'll put up a shift plan. It is supposed to be
adorned with your names, not just to be looked at!

The organizers are looking forward to meeting you - and to a powerful
start into our new campaign!
