It all depends on how strong

It all depends on how strong the base committees, the collectives which run (some) workplaces etc. actually are, and how much power they have. As of yet there are no definitive answers on that, although there are positive signs to be seen (in reports of people who were actually there). See for instance a forum post on libcom by david graeber, outlining some interesting details about the economy in rojava: https://libcom.org/forums/news/no-genuine-revolution-interview-graeber-e... .

Regarding the shooting of protestors, do your own research into what happened in Amuda, and draw your own conclusions. Interesting for instance are the reports of human rights watch, viewed IN COMBINATION with the response of the Cantonal government and the YPG/PYD to these reports. In any case it does not seem to be a straightforward case of "people protest, YPG sends out units to shoot them" - far from it.

Above all i have the ever-growing suspicion that alot of "anarchists" are looking for a virgin birth. If you want that, read the bible. If you want actual change, accept it's gonna be messy. Also please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Revolution#Criticisms , and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Terror_%28Spain%29 , before simply dismissing comparisons to '36.

Our project is to progress from the current fucked up circumstances to something better (i.e anarchy). It is idealist to believe that you can start this progress simply by already achieving anarchy. If this were possible, go do it. I'll happily join in. And no, this is not a call for the acceptance of a 'transitional state,' simply the realist assumption that if you want reality to procede from Y to X, you still have to deal with Y.
