Amsterdam: pietervlammingstraat 98 resist eviction.

Pietervlammingstraat 98 was squatted in the summer of 2012.
The building is owned by De Key and was empty sins 2008.
After the building was squatted the owner published plans to demolish the squatted building and build stupid yuppie houses.
Like us the neighborhood also did not agree with the building of stupid yuppie houses, so they started a court case.
Because of all the objections the plans of The Key were rejected.
After some time The Key tried again, they made the plan to build 145 over priced student houses.
This plan was also objected by the neighborhood but in the end of 2014 The Key got there plans approved anyway.
When it became clear that The Key was allowed to continue with there fucked up plans the squatters were told they would be evicted.
This eviction was fought in court but the squatter lost and were told the eviction would take place on the 14th of january 2015.
The battle in court was lost but the war was not over !
The house was barricaded and the squatters were not planning on leaving.
The next battle would take place on the 14th .
The morning of the 14th the cops came but saw that eviction was not possible.
Today the 15th the house is still squatted.
If you feel like supporting the people in the pietervlammingstraat 98 they would really like some beer and joints.

Ontruiming Pieter Vlamingstraat 98
De gebouwen op de Pieter Vlamingstraat 94-96-98 staan al leeg sinds 2008, toen de voormalige huurders er zijn uitgegooid. De sloop van deze, maar ook de aanliggende gebouwen zijn gestart in 2009 behalve Pieter Vlamingstraat 98. Waar de eigenaar van de coffeeshop op de begaande grond weigerde te vertrekken. Het originele plan van De Key was, om na de sloop op deze plekken sociale huurwoningen in te wisselen voor dure luxe appartementen om die vervolgens in de vrije sector te verhuren. De buurt was het niet eens met dit plan, zij hebben dan ook rechtszaken gestart tegen dit plan waardoor dit van de baan is geraakt. Vervolgens heeft de Key hun plan aangepast om ook ruimte te maken voor sociale huurwoningen. Dit plan werd later ook tegengehouden. Uiteindelijk kwam het voorstel van De Key om 145 appartementen te bouwen voor studenten. Dit plan is aangenomen ongeacht de bezwaren van de buren, die weer een rechtszaak begonnen zijn tegen De Key, maar die verloren aan het einde van 2014.
In juli 2012 heeft een groep mensen het gebouw op de Pieter Vlamingstraat 98 en het lege terrein dat na de sloop van de gebouwen ernaast achterbleef, gekraakt. Deze lege terreinen zijn veel voorkomend in Amsterdam Oost, waar woningbouw corporaties, zoals De Key, na het slopen van complexen met sociale huurwoningen, die leeg komen te staan omdat er geen geld meer is om een project af te maken. Dit laat grote legen gebieden achter. Ten tijde van de kraak was het pand al jaren aan het wegrotten, zo waren er geen normale voorzieningen aanwezig. Dit hield in dat er een massale renovatie moest plaatsvinden om het huis weer bewoonbaar te kunnen maken. Dit hebben de krakers dan ook gedaan en door de jaren heen hebben meer dan 30 mensen dit als thuishaven kunnen gebruiken. Rond het pand is een hechte gemeenschap ontstaan waaruit verschillende activiteiten zijn ontbloeid zoals de buurt-tuin, een weggeefwinkel en een gratis bibliotheek.
Waar krakers en buurtbewoners constant bezig zijn om de stad een plek te maken voor bewoners en niet voor winst zijn woning corporaties te allen tijde bezig met het kapot maken van deze initiatieven voor hun eigen commerciële doeleindes. Het nieuwe plan om dure luxe studenten appartementen te bouwen, welke hoogstwaarschijnlijk te duur gaan zijn voor de alledaagse student. Dit is nog een voorbeeld van het afbraakbeleid wat wordt toegepast in Amsterdam. Sociale huurders worden elders in de stad geplaatst om plek te maken voor dure luxe appartementen en zo gaat de afbraak van de sociale huur maar door. Zo wordt alles binnen de ring omgetoverd naar een commerciële paradijs voor klote yuppen. Voor deze redenen heeft de buurt zich hier dan ook verzet.
De krakers van de Pieter Vlamingstraat zullen zich dan ook actief verzetten tegen hun ontruiming. Met deze actie protesteren zij tegen het beleid wat ontruimt en plek maakt voor gentrificatie. De realiteit voor hen die kraken wordt zwaarder met de dag. De Stad en de Staat laten zich niet meer tegen houden door de wet en ontruimen dan ook nieuwe panden illegaal. Dit is schandalig en daarom is het belangrijk dat wij ons blijven verzetten tegen deze staat repressie!

The buildings on the Pieter Vlamingstraat 94-96-98 had been empty since 2008, when the tenants were kicked out. The demolition of these and other surrounding buildings started in 2009 with the exception of Pieter Vlamingstraat 98, where the owner of the coffeshop on the ground floor refused to leave. The original plan of De Key was to demolish the existing social houses for building luxury apartments for the free market. The neighbors protested against the plan, started a court-case and the project was eventually rejected. De Key then proposed to build both social and private sector apartments, but this was rejected as well. Eventually De Key proposed to build 145 apartments for students, and the projects got finally approved despite the opposition of the neighbors, who started yet another court case against De Key but lost it at the end of 2014.
In July 2012 a group of people squatted the Pieter Vlamingstraat 98 and the empty field that was left after the demolition of the buildings aside. These fields are quite common in Amsterdam Oost, where housing corporations like De Key, after demolishing entire social housing blocks, run out of money to complete the project and left only waste lands behind. At the time of the occupation, the state of the house was very poor. All the basic infrastructures were missing, and the structure of the building was rotting away. The squatters massively renovated the building to make it livable. Through these years more then 30 people have called this building 'home'. A lively communally grew around it, and started a number of activities for the neighborhood such as a neighborhood garden, a give away shop and a free library.
While squatters and neighbors constantly aim at making the city for people rather than for profits, housing corporations keep on destroying these initiatives for their investments and commercial purposes. The new plan is to build expensive apartments for students, which are going to be unaffordable for most of regular students. This is yet another weapon of destruction of the existing community, that operates by relocating existing tenants, moving in upper classes, and turning the neighborhood into an expensive, commercialized and consumerist place, where houses, shops and fancy cafes are unaccessible for the average working classes. For these reasons the neighborhood has constantly struggled against the plans of De Key.
The squatters of the Pieter Vlamingstraat are taking a stand against this process and are actively resisting the eviction of the house. They are also standing against all the evictions happening all over Amsterdam and The Netherlands, where the squat ban led to a situation where squats are constantly being evicted for giving space to gentrification and real estate investments. The reality of those who are squatting is getting every day more precarious. The city and the state are taking over long-standing social and living squatted projects, illegally evicting new squats, and enforcing stricter surveillance and control on squatters. It is necessary to keep on actively resisting this state violence.
