Dear Sir,

I accepted to give an interview to your newspaper knowing it's a serious one. I didn't even ask to read it before published as I was certain it was going to be a fair article. Mr. Kapantais was also present and heard what I said. It's a critical time for Greece and we are all trying to help anyway we can. When the article was published I asked for a translation and I was amazed to see that it had nothing to do with my point of view. I'm certain the journalist had not such intention but by omitting everything positive I said about Greece the result was for from what I meant. I tried to be sincere and objective about the Greek reality and our struggle to survive now and through history.

What I read was not objective at all. I said - just an example - "If all Museums in England, France, Germany give us the money they receive from our antiquities then Greece could and should repay its debt". The first part is out! So what I say is "Greece should pay its dept"! This as you understand has nothing to do with my point of view. It seems Antigreek.

I never had the intention to give an interview where I would criticize my country and just flatter our "allies". I think it would be fair to publish my letter as at these critical times we Greeks, are sensitive to whatever concerns our country.

With respect

Mimi Denissi

PRESS RELEASE (cc. own translation - the original text is in Greek)

Regarding the existence of some comments that I got to know about my manipulated interview in the newspaper "Trouw", I have to inform the public that I was annoyed much more because both my statements and my intentions were manipulated. I spoke very warmly about Greece and its history and about the betrayals Greece suffered by its allies. However, none of this was reported. For this reason, even before the comments of the readers of the newspaper were published I sent a letter of complaint to the editorial board of the newspaper. The text of this letter is presented below. I also reported the issue to my legal advisors to act accordingly, as the behavior of the aforementioned newspaper insulted me as a person and as a Greek. A Greek journalist was present during the interview and he knows the exact content of my interview. My longstanding career in culture and my constant effort to promote the culture of my country by no means goes goes hand in hand with the image that was created by a piece of text that is almost completely manipulated. I would like to believe that it was not the intention of the aforementioned newspaper to serve 'other' interests and causes with a targeted effort.
